I am running for Property Appraiser because I love Brevard County. After 44 years, my roots have grown deep here and it will always be my home. My parents brought me to Florida from Massachusetts and this is where I grew up, went to school, married, and am raising my family.
I have fond memories of my days at Merritt Island High School and still enjoy meeting old classmates'. After high school I attended the University of Central Florida and graduated in 1981 with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration. Shortly after school I went to work for Brevard County as an auditor and worked my way to become the County Finance Director. I have been with Brevard County government for twenty five years.
My wife Jamie and I have been married for twenty two years and are blessed with three wonderful children. Jamie is serving as campaign manager when she is not at work where she just celebrated her 11th anniversary with the space program.
Our daughter is currently away at college, where she is realizing her dream of learning to teach deaf students. Our oldest son is a recent graduate of Rockledge High School, and will be pursuing a career as a firefighter or fire inspecter. Our youngest son will begin his second year of high school this fall, enrolled in the Cambridge Program.
I want to see that your children and mine are able to afford to start their own families here in this wonderful county. Watching Brevard County grow and seeing my neighbors struggle with rising taxes has made me realize what a serious obligation government has to its taxpayers. As someone who is passionate about my work, I will work towards ensuring fair practices while listening to the concerns of all Brevardians. I look forward to meeting all of you.
